Description: Reunion Island is a little French island lost in Indian Ocean, between Madagascar and Mauritius. On the south coast of La Réunion, vacoas (pandanus utilis) is present in large number. This species native of the shore of the Indian Ocean has a food and handcraft utility. Fruits are edible in particular for the preparation of achards. Leaves are used for the cover of roofs or for the basketwork.
In the background, we can note (in clockwise): the camp of the photographer and his fellows, the lights of the city of Saint Philippe, the slopes of one of the most active volcanoes of the world (Le Piton de la Fournaise) and the uneven shore of the south coast.
Last but not least, at the center of the image and at the top in the sky, the center of our Milky Way seems to observe us.
